The sun will not burn us
Here under the longan tree. We will
eat mangoes and talk of the colours of
tea .
See
how wreathed we are
with sun and shade.
Away from middling mynahs
fat with tales of dead sparrows.
There is no place for them here.
Here will we sit
and watch the wriggly lines
move across our feet, bathed in
waters and
muddied by earth, not ours,
but His, lent generously
for a time.

We’re homeschooling differently this year. Doing more hands-on, more notebooking cum lapbooking. We all enjoy getting up early because of the promise of more hours to do things and go out.
I’ll be journalling a bit more about our homeschool journey than before. This blog will therefore be revamped in terms of content.
When I looked at the older entries on this blog, I saw that there were question marks splattered all over them. Some spudhead hacked into my site some time ago and left his marks there . I haven’t had the time to clean those up so those blotches’ll have to stay for the time being.
My free time is spent on reading, reading and more reading, planning and preparation. Once our routines are more fixed, I foresee myself having more time to write and yes, to blog.
I’ve resumed playing the piano/ keyboard for Sunday Service after a hiatus of more than 10 years after two considerations: Miroslav Volf’s tome that our gifts are to be passed on to others, and secondly, that I should do it now before my fingers get creaky.
Over the past 1 month and a half, we’ve been studying Egypt, volcanoes, days, seasons and some literature. We’ve had the opportunity to go on a field trip to FRIM with other homeschoolers and to present a lapbook of Japan at the co-op we are part of. This week we hosted three young missionaries for dinner and went gallavanting in Aquaria with a fellow homeschooler and her daughter. We’re going to the dog shelter tomorrow for a visit.
However, the best thing about homeschooling thus far is the regaining of my sense of focus and perspective on family and on our roles as participants of His plan for the world. But, more on that later.
